I don't enjoy clicking the boat repetitively, then switching districts, and finally taking the time to run to storage.

Virtual lethargy ftw.

/notsigned. Honestly, unless you absolutely love Vasburg Armory, and the few other towns like that, there is always a quick guildhop and if you're Han Solo, you should already know the best towns where the xunlai box and the merchant are buddies. A good idea, but it's going overboard.

Agreed with this. Although in some of the bigger towns *especially Gate of Torment* getting to the storage can be annoying, but its not a big deal.

I agree with this a hotkey would be nice. If Anet can't do this though then the OPs idea is fine.

For those cases there should be map markers, nearer chests or both.

well many of them, they did add in more chests *LA, Ascalon City, Droks, Shing Jea, Kaineng Center, Kamadan, and the main town in Vabbi* but they do need to add in a second set of chests in GoT, its a rather confusing place just to get to the chests, one time I got lost in there for 5 min looking for the chests *and of course U doesn't help sine it doesn't show the chests*

Aw, Geez, I gotta run a virtual 100 yards to that merchant over there, and then back over to that Xunlai chest waaaaayyyy over there.

What's the use in making a town or outpost if you aren't going to move around in it? Honestly, why not just say "I want it now and I don't want to work too hard to get it"?

Why not put in a "use concise towns option": they could give you a personal little white booth where you could type /storage, /skills, /merchant and do all of your petty character maintenance, then rush back to the real work of killing virtual monsters. Older games had interfaces like that, where you went to a load in screen to do character maintenance. Many console games still do.

I think if you make a change to put in commands like that, you'd be missing the point of playing in a virtual world.

Personally, if they implement the original Idea, it wouldn't affect me, but I'd hope they would also put in code that rewards people who run by making lazy characters gain weight and get fat.

Now, you want to make this idea useful? Type /skills in a town, let me target the skills guy so I can find him easier, or ping the compass so I can get the right direction to go. I'll gladly run the whole 400 virtual yards.

Hi, I am an ideas guy and I have 1 important idea which involves storage.

Idea #1-->Storage Accounts With Interest Rates. I am an economics teacher at a college which shall remain nameless and I would like to see APR (Average Percentage Rate) in my storage account. By using the compound interest formula (A=P(1+r/n)^nt) we can encourage players to invest their gold in their storage accounts and reward them at the same time. I have made a translation of the equation below.
A=amount after time t
P=principle amount (initial investment)
r=annual interest rate (as a decimal)
n=number of times the interest is compounded per year
t=number of years
Most players take a lot of time off playing Guild Wars because of school or jobs. Some just get bored and need a long break. What better way to welcome them back into the game than having a big surprise in their storage accounts.

Sounds like a nice idea, though please don't use bold for your entire post.

There are too many rich people that have quit the game already with like, 750k+ in storage, and they would be gaining interest even though they haven't played in a year. It would be much less money to go around to the rest of the community, and the economy would be ruined.

What we need is less gold in the player's pockets, and more into the environment. We need gold sinks, not methods to give players gold.

Actually, this is not the case. If the interest rate is proportioned as a small amount, you can control the earnings of individuals over time. Moreover, banks always change their rates weekly so that this does not happen. The in game GDP (Gross Domestic Product) would just have to be calculated weekly which it is already. NCSoft knows the in game GDP at all times because it is a controlled environment. Much like the United States Mixed Market economy except the government in Guild Wars does not exist allowing the players to be part a a Free Market Economy. In other words, NCSoft can program an equation for Guild Wars to run automatically every so often to change the APR (Average Percentage Rate). In conclusion, the interest rates obviously will not be fixed.

Though I don't really care if it's in or not. I usually have a town I like on every continent and just map there whenever I need to do any serious merching/salvage/inventory work.

Your own thread was deleted because, as I said on that thread, you posted a "couple of ideas" thread, instead of starting several different threads for each idea. That is against forum rules, which I believe you should read first (stickied at the top of the page).

I would LOVE this.
If I sumed up all the time I spent on running to storage to open it, it would certainly be *dozens of hours*. Seriously, I spend a huge lot of time trading, that requires a lot of district jumping and character swapping. And with every relog to a mule there comes the added time of running to storage with him.
